Chameleon Stranded Cotton

Chameleon Threads are individually hand-dyed in South Africa using cotton, rayon and pure silk. With such a wide range in colour and thread type, we are assured in catering for all our clients needs.

As a very passionate embroiderer for the past 20 years, Via Laurie understands the importance of quality when it comes to stitching. At Chameleon we only use the best possible base thread in creating an extensive range of beautiful and delightful space dyed threads. As a stitcher she also has a wide knowledge of most types of embroidery and therefore understands the needs of embroiderers using her threads.

Via uses DMC unbleached 6-stranded 100% mercerized cotton as her base thread. It has a subtle sheen and is probably the most well known type of embroidery thread as it is so versatile. It can be used in most forms of embroidery and can be separated into any required thickness. Stranded Cotton comes in 8m skeins.

Chameleon Shades of Africa

Via has taken 12 of her most popular colours and created a range for lovers of soft shading. Each colour shades from light to dark and comes in packs of 4 or 5. The Shades of Africa range is dyed using only Soie D' Alger and Soie de Paris 100% pure Silk.

When you order you will be ordering a pack of 4 or 5 threads in the shade of your choice.

Chameleon Soie de Paris (6-ply silk)

Via uses Au ver a' Soie 100% unbleached pure silk as her base thread. The Soie de Paris is a 6-stranded silk and has a wonderful sheen and has good light reflection qualities. One strand can be used for embroiderers who love very fine work. Pure Silk comes in 5m skeins.

Chameleon Pearl 8 Cotton

Perlè Cotton
Via uses DMC unbleached perlè no.8 and perlè no. 12 100% mercerized cotton as our base thread. Perlè cotton is a hard wearing twisted thread with a beautiful sheen and can not be separated. It is used in, for example canvas work, counted thread embroidery, crewel work and free style embroidery. Perlè Cotton no.8 comes in 16m skeins.
