Meet the BERNINA 790 ULTRA

The BERNINA 790 ULTRA is built for makers who move between sewing, quilting and embroidery and don't want their machine to be the limiting factor.

Its 254mm / 10" of space to the right of the needle gives you room to handle quilts and larger projects, while the BERNINA Hook delivers precise stitches up to 9mm wide at speeds of up to 1,000 stitches per minute. The front-loading Jumbo Bobbin holds up to 70% more thread than a standard bobbin, so you can spend more time sewing and less time changing bobbins.

BERNINA Dual Feed provides controlled fabric feeding when you're working with difficult, slippery or layered materials, while Adaptive Thread Tension continuously monitors tension once you've set it for your fabric and thread.

BERNINA Integrated Stitch Regulator

Free-motion quilting is a major strength of the 790 ULTRA thanks to the BERNINA Integrated Stitch Regulator, or BISR.

Attach the included 5.5mm BISR Stitch Plate with Sensor and your chosen quilting foot, and the machine regulates stitch length as your sewing speed changes. Unlike a system tied to one particular quilting foot, BISR works across BERNINA quilting applications and presser feet, including ruler work.

For quilters, that means stitch regulation is built into the machine's quilting workflow while leaving you free to choose the quilting foot or accessory that suits the technique.

Automatic Stitch Plate Recognition

The 790 ULTRA automatically recognises compatible sensor-enabled stitch plates as soon as they're installed, helping the machine configure itself correctly and adding another level of sewing safety.

Three sensor-enabled plates are included: the 9mm Standard Stitch Plate with Sensor, Straight Stitch Plate with Sensor and BISR / 5.5mm Stitch Plate with Sensor.

Combine this with Stitch Designer, where you can create or edit stitches directly on screen, and Sideways Motion for multi-directional 360° sewing, and the machine becomes a serious creative tool rather than simply a library of preset stitches.

Advanced Computerized Quilting

The 790 ULTRA brings powerful computerized quilting tools into the embroidery environment.

Customizable Quilt Designs in BQM format can be scaled without the usual limitations, with stitches-per-inch adjustable to suit your project. Designs can also be saved in BQM format for future use.

Crop and Connect

Crop lets you precisely trim quilt designs to suit the area you need to stitch, including cropping to the embroidery hoop.

Connect then allows multiple quilt designs to be joined into a continuous pattern using connection stitches. This gives you much more control when building larger or more complex computerized quilting layouts.

3- and 4-Point Placement with Morphing

Define three or four points on the hooped fabric and the 790 ULTRA can position your embroidery or quilting design proportionally within that area.

When needed, Morphing goes a step further by adapting the design to fit the boundary you've defined. This is particularly useful when the real-world space you're trying to fill doesn't perfectly match the original shape of the design.

Powerful Embroidery Built In

The included Embroidery Module L with Smart Drive Technology gives the 790 ULTRA a maximum embroidery area of 400 x 210mm.

BERNINA stitchprecision² Technology combines precision with faster, smoother and quieter embroidery performance, while freearm embroidery makes it easier to embroider tubular projects such as T-shirts without additional tools.

The machine includes 610 embroidery designs and 25 embroidery alphabets, with extensive on-screen editing for resizing, rotating, mirroring, positioning, combining and arranging designs.
