About Sandnes Garn Babyull Lanett

Babyull Lanett has been part of the Sandnes Garn range since the early 1980s. While its name reflects its long association with baby knitting, this is a versatile fine merino yarn that works beautifully for children and adults too.

Babyull Lanett has a soft, squishy feel and a broader recommended knitting tension of 27–31 stitches per 10cm. This flexibility allows you to create a softer, more open fabric or a firmer, finer knit depending on your pattern, needle size and required gauge.

The softness of merino makes it comfortable for garments worn close to the skin, while the wool provides natural warmth without needing a bulky fabric. It's an excellent choice for baby cardigans, jumpers, rompers, bonnets and blankets, as well as children's and adult sweaters, cardigans and fine colourwork.

Made for Baby & Children's Knitting

The yarn is superwash treated and can be machine washed on a wool cycle at up to 40°C. You get the softness and warmth of 100% merino wool with practical care for garments that are going to be worn, washed and worn again.

Babyull Lanett vs Tynn Merinoull

Babyull Lanett and Tynn Merinoull are both 100% merino wool, superwash treated and contain approximately 175m per 50g ball, but they don't feel or knit exactly the same.

Babyull Lanett has a softer, squishier feel and a broader recommended tension of 27–31 stitches per 10cm. This makes it a great choice when you want more flexibility in the density and feel of your finished fabric.

Tynn Merinoull has a more defined standard tension of 27 stitches per 10cm, making it a straightforward choice when your pattern calls specifically for that gauge.

In short: Choose Babyull Lanett when you want a soft, squishy merino with greater flexibility in gauge. Choose Tynn Merinoull when you want a fine superwash merino with a more defined 27-stitch tension.

Always knit a tension swatch when substituting yarns to make sure you achieve the required gauge and are happy with the finished fabric.

Care

Babyull Lanett is superwash treated and can be machine washed separately using a wool programme at up to 40°C.

Spin well after washing, reshape and dry flat. Always follow the care instructions on the yarn label.
