With 235 metres per 50g ball, it creates lightweight knitted fabric with beautiful stitch definition and can be used on its own, held double, or paired with Tynn Silk Mohair as a second strand. Sunday is the finest 100% merino yarn in the Sandnes Garn range and a brilliant all-round choice for lightweight wool garments.

Its fine 4ply construction works beautifully for sweaters, cardigans, baby and children's knits, detailed colourwork and garments worn close to the body. Merino wool provides natural warmth while remaining breathable, making Sunday a versatile yarn across a wide range of projects.

Sunday is non-superwash, but importantly, that doesn't mean it can't be machine washed. Sandnes Garn recommends a gentle 30°C wool programme for this yarn.

The Sunday range includes a colour collection developed in collaboration with Danish knitwear designer PetiteKnit.

PetiteKnit colours use the same Sunday yarn base as the rest of the range, with the same 100% merino composition, meterage and knitting characteristics. This means you can freely choose and combine PetiteKnit shades with other Sunday colours for your project.

Sunday vs Tynn Merinoull

Sunday and Tynn Merinoull are both fine 100% merino yarns, but there are some useful differences when deciding between them.

Sunday is the finer yarn, with approximately 235m per 50g and a standard tension of 28 stitches per 10cm. It is non-superwash treated.

Tynn Merinoull has approximately 175m per 50g, knits at 27 stitches per 10cm and is superwash treated. That makes Tynn Merinoull a practical alternative when you want a slightly more substantial 4ply merino and superwash treatment, particularly for frequently washed baby and children's garments.

In short: Choose Sunday for a fine, lightweight, non-superwash merino with excellent versatility. Choose Tynn Merinoull when you want a slightly heavier 4ply merino with the convenience of superwash treatment.

Always check your pattern requirements and knit a tension swatch before substituting yarns.

Care

Sunday is non-superwash merino but can be machine washed. Sandnes Garn recommends washing wool garments separately using a gentle wool programme at 30°C.

Spin hand-knitted garments well after washing, reshape and dry flat, preferably on a towel. Avoid using a laundry bag, as the additional friction can encourage felting.
