This is where the bernette 59 gets really interesting.

The free StitchDirect app lets you create on the larger, familiar touchscreen of your Android or Apple phone or tablet instead of doing everything through the sewing machine itself.

Draw or trace your own embroidery design, edit an existing design, create decorative sewing stitches and save your creations for later. When you're ready, send the design wirelessly over WiFi to the b59 and stitch it out.

You can also use StitchDirect to monitor your embroidery while the machine is stitching, so you don't need to stand over the machine throughout a longer design.

There's no need to purchase specialist embroidery software just to start creating your own simple designs. If you can draw or trace an idea on your phone or tablet, the b59 gives you an incredibly accessible way to turn that idea into stitches.

From a Drawing on the Screen to Embroidery on Fabric

This is one of our favourite things about the b59, and something you really need to see in action to appreciate.

Draw something directly in StitchDirect, or trace an image on your phone or tablet. Send it wirelessly to the b59, thread up the machine and watch that digital drawing become embroidery.

That makes the b59 particularly exciting for younger makers who are already completely at home creating on a touchscreen. But it also creates a wonderful opportunity to make things together.

Let a child or grandchild draw a picture, write their name or create a little motif on the tablet, then turn it into something they can actually keep. Embroider it onto a library bag, T-shirt, cushion, quilt label, birthday gift or simply save the design to stitch again later.
