Petite Knit Chestnut Sweater - Knitting Pattern / Kit
The Chestnut Sweater is worked from the top down. First the back is worked back and forth, while the slant of the shoulders is shaped with short rows to create a good fit. After this, each shoulder is worked separately back and forth on the circular needles. The shoulders are then joined to from the front yoke. At the underarm, the front and back are joined and the body is worked in the round on the circular needles. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and knitted along the armholes and the sleeves are worked in the round down to the cuffs on a circular needle and double-pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique. The large turtleneck collar is worked at the end from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the neck edge.
Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge.
Size Guide
The Chestnut Sweater is designed to have approx. 30 cm [11¾ inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 30 cm [11¾ inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The fit is oversized. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches].
The measurements for the finished garment are on the front page of the pattern. Before beginning your project, measure yourself to determine which size to knit. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 120 cm [47¼ inches] which in the given example would give you 30 cm [11¾ inches] of positive ease.

Published Sunday, 21 June 20265 out of 5I have always been a hater of dpns but these needles converted me. That grip the stitches so they don’t fall off but don’t snag them. Perfect length. Clover never disappoints

Published Friday, 22 May 20264 out of 5I bought the “kit” for the PetiteKnit Zipper sweater light using Peer Gynt. I was delighted with the service from the Ribbon Rose and the quality of the yarn and pattern, first rate. However, I was disappointed that the appropriate zipper was not included in the kit.

Published Thursday, 5 March 20265 out of 5This is a new yarn to me - it was the colour which originally drew me to it, and I was a bit skeptical as I like to use merino for garments. The yarn is surprisingly soft, with great construction which will ensure stitch and pattern definition. The colour is gorgeous, so I am really anticipating knitting with it and wearing the finished garment.
