Welcome to your new ironing companion.
This 100% NZ wool ironing mat is your secret weapon for faster, crisper ironing. Made to fit most ironing boards, you can use it as-is or cut it to shape with sharp scissors. Just trace your outline with chalk or a washaway marker, then trim.
This is as local as it gets.
From sheep to sheet, this mat supports Kiwi farms and businesses at every step. No offshore shortcuts — just clean, honest materials and quality you can trust.
Why wool?
Wool holds heat. That means you’re ironing from both sides at once — cutting your ironing time and boosting results. It’s thick, naturally resistant to scorching, and grips your fabric to prevent slipping. Unlike synthetic mats, wool breathes and cushions, so you get smoother press lines without damaging delicate fabrics.
Natural, with nothing to hide.
Our wool is pure — no chemicals, no dyes, no bleaching. That means you will see organic matter. It’s totally normal. We don’t hide nature’s imperfections with harsh chemicals or synthetic fillers — just clean, honest wool the way it’s meant to be.
What makes ours different?
- 100% New Zealand wool – sourced from Gisborne farms
- Locally made – felted in the Waikato, cut and packed in Auckland
- No synthetic fillers – just pure wool, through and through
- Yep, it's white. Ask why the others are not!
- Customizable – cut it to fit your board, table, or workbench
- Sustainable – biodegradable, durable, and packaged locally
- Felted, not pressed. This means that little bit of steam your ironing just released can breath - not sweat.
Felted wool vs. pressed wool: What’s the difference?
Not all wool mats are created equal. Many cheaper options (cheaper made, not cheaper in price!) use pressed wool, which is made by compressing loose fibers under pressure — often with synthetic binders or fillers added. It looks like wool, but doesn’t perform like it and risks residue left on your iron or fabric.
Our mats use dense felted wool (1,000gsm!), which is created by repeatedly agitating and matting the wool fibers together using moisture, heat, and pressure — no glue, no fillers, just natural interlocking fiber. The result?
Why felted wool wins:
- No fillers or binders – just pure wool, so it’s naturally heat-resistant and breathable. 100% Wool doesnt always mean 100% Wool - unless its Wisewool™.
- Grippier surface – fabric stays in place while you iron.
- Longer-lasting – felted mats hold their shape and resist crumbling or compacting over time.
- Eco-friendly – fully biodegradable and made without synthetic chemicals.
Pressed wool mats can’t compete on durability, performance, or purity.
*When using irons on high heats, pop something underneath to further protect your surface.
*Steam smart – wool can handle a little steam, but it’s not made to get soaked — use a common-sense approach
