Tynn Merinoull is a fine 100% merino wool yarn that combines softness and warmth with the practicality of superwash treatment. Merino wool is naturally insulating and breathable, making it comfortable for garments worn close to the body.

Tynn Merinoull vs Sunday

Sunday is Sandnes Garn's best-known fine merino yarn, but Tynn Merinoull is an excellent alternative when easy care is a priority.

Both are fine 100% merino wool yarns suited to many of the same types of projects, but there are important differences. Tynn Merinoull is superwash treated, while Sunday is non-superwash. Tynn Merinoull also has a slightly heavier meterage and gauge at 175m per 50g and 27 stitches per 10cm, compared with Sunday's 235m and 28 stitches per 10cm.

For baby and children's knitting, Tynn Merinoull can be a particularly practical choice. You still get the softness, warmth and comfort of 100% merino wool, with superwash treatment designed to withstand frequent machine washing.

In short: Choose Sunday when you want Sandnes Garn's fine, non-superwash merino and its lighter 235m per 50g construction. Choose Tynn Merinoull when you want a slightly more substantial 4ply merino with the practicality of superwash treatment.

When substituting one yarn for another, always knit a tension swatch and make sure you can achieve the gauge and fabric required by your pattern.

Care

Tynn Merinoull is superwash treated and can be machine washed at 30°C using a wool programme. Wash garments separately, spin well and dry flat, preferably on a towel.

Sandnes Garn recommends not using a laundry bag when machine washing hand-knitted wool garments, as the additional friction can encourage felting.
